Behavioral Crossroads continues to solidify its position as an industry leader among New Jersey alcohol treatment centers. The facility was recently featured by The Buffalo News following the launch of its new kosher recovery services program that caters specifically to the needs of the Orthodox Jewish community.
To meet the needs of the Jewish clients, Behavioral Crossroads features a fully stocked kosher kitchen where kosher and Sabbath meals are prepared. All staff members receive cultural competency training to ensure that Jewish clients receive the support that they need. Additionally, the Sabbath and all Jewish holidays are observed, and spiritual guidance is provided by Chabad Rabbi Avi Richler.
While there are several substance abuse treatment centers in Jersey, Behavioral Crossroads is the only center to launch a kosher recovery services program. Because the center is Jewish-owned, its leadership team is committed to ensuring that those of Jewish faith who are battling addiction have access to programs that are tailored to their cultural and spiritual needs.
According to some experts, many men and women of the Jewish faith have long held onto the belief that their moral code, strong family ties and abhorrence to drug culture diminished their vulnerability to substance abuse disorders. As a result, historically there have been few resources, and even fewer programs, developed that cater to those in the Jewish community battling addiction. Behavioral Crossroads aims to be a haven for Jewish men and women who are battling not only addiction, but also the stigma around it.
Behavioral Crossroads operates two substance abuse treatment centers in Jersey. The five-acre estate provides separate housing for male and female patients for up to 90 days during rehabilitation.
