FSP – Family Support Program

The FSP at Behavioral Crossroads Recovery is anchored by a seasoned clinician with over 30 years of family counseling experience. The program offers individual family sessions as an ancillary service outside of the clinical level of care an individual may have at BCR. It involves couples and family counseling. As COVID-19 quarantine rules are lifted, the program will include family day in person retreats to observe family dynamics and offer suggestions that could improve family cohesiveness. As of now, we hold groups in person with social distancing rules, as well as through telehealth software.

In general, the FSP reviews the life of the “Pandemic Parent”, and how they are “stuck” at home trying desperately to carry the school curricula of their young children and provide for their family. Part of the program allows teaching professionals to offer a segment reviewing techniques, tips, and “tricks” to aid the process of working through our new system of COVID-19 life.

The FSP reviews certain techniques parents use to help ease tensions at home and help their children navigate the internet, support virtual learning, and impart discipline when needed. The Family Retreat is an opportunity to observe family dynamics which will ultimately help overall treatment. The groups are telehealth until CDC regulations are lifted, then we will host these larger groups in person.

We are excited to expand this program and dive into household trauma as it relates to the family dynamic. The program is trauma informed and explains how daily trauma plays an active part in destabilizing the family unit. The FSP – Family Support Program is based on a 12-16 week SAMHSA model that focuses on both individual and group sessions up to 3 hours a week.
