Each year, the Mental Health Association of New Jersey (MHANJ) hosts its Annual Evening of Excellence. The event honors those making a significant impact in the mental health field in New Jersey, while also raising funds through a dinner and silent auction in support of the association’s work. This year, Doug Reichert, Behavioral Crossroads’ Program Director, was tapped to receive the Spotlight on Excellence in Addiction Certificate of Recognition. The award recognizes his deep and unwavering commitment to providing a best in class therapeutic day treatment program to help individuals with psychiatric illnesses and related problems.
Doug Reichert has served as Program Director at Behavioral Crossroads since 2005. He holds a Master’s degree and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. His resume includes several leadership positions dating back to 1990 in such settings as psychiatric hospitals, intensive outpatient programs and in residential treatment, making him a tremendous asset to our program.
The 17th Annual Evening of Excellence marked Doug’s first time to be honored by MHANJ. The association’s mission is to strive for mental health for children and adults in the state through advocacy, education, training, and providing much needed mental health related services. Doug and the entire team at Behavioral Crossroads also share this important mission and applaud MHANJ for the impact they continue to make in our local community.
MHANJ’s prestigious event was led by Emmy award winning actor and commentator Steve Adubato and several esteemed programs from across the state of New Jersey were invited to share their insights. A panel entitled, “Fighting Heroin and Opiate Addiction in New Jersey: What works?” was one of the most buzzed about sessions of the evening.
Doug shared his thoughts on the evening and the award: “It was a landmark event, and it was one of the highest honors of my career. We work very diligently to assist individuals who have significant substance abuse-related disorders to develop the skills and supports necessary to live, learn, or work in the community of their choice with the least amount of intervention from the substance abuse treatment community.”
As a result of Doug receiving the Spotlight on Excellence in Addiction Certificate of Recognition award and Behavioral Crossroads’ participation in the 17th Evening of Excellence, we received significant media coverage locally and nationally. News of the prestigious award was included in the Courier-Post, The State Journal, numerous local television news affiliates and USA Today.
